“The person who carried out the accident and threw the bomb was arrested by teams from our Istanbul Police Department. Before that, about 21 other people had been arrested,” he has declared, cited by local media. For its part, the Ministry of Justice announced the arrest of 46 people.

The official hinted that the authorities suspect that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the Democratic Union Party (PYD), considered terrorist organizations by Ankara, may be behind the attack.

For his part, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan manifested in a press conference that “efforts to take control of Turkey and the Turkish nation through terrorism will yield no results”.

According to the latest official toll, at least six people died and 81 others were injured in the explosion.
