A license plate reader helped agents from the US city of Deltona locate a man wanted for a series of robberies at gym locker rooms in the state of Florida, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Officers identified the vehicle of the suspect, Thomas Dugan, 62, last Saturday afternoon, but he tried to flee. In a video released this Monday by the authorities, it can be seen how one of the agents deploys a barrage of spikes during the chase, forcing the man to stop shortly after.
Dugan was taken into custody and is currently in custody at the Volusia County Jail and was set on $ 32,000 bond.
He faces multiple charges in several counties, including the theft of a backpack on May 11 at the Anytime Fitness gym in the city of Ormond Beach, where he was recorded committing the crime.
In addition, he is suspected of robbery in a car last Saturday at Planet Fitness in Orange City, where he allegedly took the victim’s keys by forcing the lock of his locker, entered his car, stole his credit cards and used them in two stores in the area.
