In the autumn of 2019, thanks to the entrepreneurship of Karina Ziegler, the head of the Latvian Cultural Society in Stuttgart, the idea of creating an anthem for the Latvian diaspora youth was realized. The author of the idea addressed the Latvian composer Lolita Ritmanis living in the USA and the author of the songs living here in Latvia Guntars Račs about creating a joint song. This is how the composition “New Song” was made, which was recorded in the studio in Riga, in collaboration with producer Gints Stankevičs, by young Latvians living and born in Germany, with the participation of singers of the group “Cuckoo”.
The initiators and authors of the song were pleasantly surprised now that during the pandemic, thanks to the initiative of Boston Latvian choir leader Krissy Skare, only the idea of a US Latvian youth virtual choir realized a new version of this song, which unites 77 children from all walks of life. US states. Each sang a part of the choir separately, but Krisīte’s husband Michael (Michael Glashow) mixed the sound together. Video edited by Ēriks Galiņš.
