The planets Jupiter and Saturn have been close to each other for the eye in recent days. Due to the clouds it was expected that the phenomenon would not be clearly visible, but a video appeared on Twitter showing how both giants skim above the Utrecht Dom Tower.
Jupiter and Saturn are the two largest planets in our solar system. The natural phenomenon seen from Earth in recent days was therefore called a ‘cosmic kiss’.
Frédérik Ruys filmed the phenomenon and shared the video on Twitter. There he writes that he had actually already given up hope because of the cloud cover, when it just cleared up at that moment and both planets were visible.
According to astronomers, it is a special natural phenomenon. The last time both planets were seen so close together was about 400 years ago, according to NASA.
