In the TV24 program “Current war in Ukraine”, the expert of the program Jānis Slaidiņš, looking at the most important events of the past days, once again paid special attention to Bakhmut, which is currently in the center of attention, because the heaviest battles are taking place there.

A Ukrainian superior described the situation in Bakhmut roughly as follows: the enemy is fighting wisely, the city is already partially under their control, the Russians have been instructed to break out and approach. The city is constantly under fire, it is under professional attacks. The opponent is complex.
The Ukrainian side is already gradually preparing for battles in the very center of the city.
“A tactic is used there, which is not found anywhere else, it is called frog jumping – in small groups (5-10 people), they “seep in through the cracks”, harden. With such small groups, it is difficult to use artillery – they dissolve and disappear,” says Slaidiņš.
Because of the events of the last days, Bahmut has a new nickname – the world’s butthole, because it is even difficult to comprehend what is happening there.
The show also featured videos from Bahmut showing how these ‘frog-jumping’ fights take place. It’s similar to when boys play war games as children – the attacks are face-to-face, only this time with real weapons.
In the urban environment, battles are generally difficult – there are no fronts, only strike groups operate, they meet face to face. It is difficult to manage such battles, because you can’t use artillery either, it can hit your own.
Communication plays an especially important role in this type of battle, as well as well-prepared commanders and trained crewmen.
