A baby was found alive in a wooden box floating on the Ganges by an Indian fisherman. This is a little girl, about a month old.
It’s a story that seems straight out of an animated movie. On Monday June 14, a baby was found alive in a wooden box floating on the Ganges in India. The baby, a baby girl believed to be around a month old, was rescued by a fisherman in northern India in Ghazipur.
“I found the baby as I was going to do a ritual prayer along the river. No one would leave a baby in a crowded place. The baby was left in a corner. There were other people but no one. approached the baby, so I went there and took the baby and the box in which it was floating, “Gullu Chaudhary, the sailor who found the newborn, told AFP.

Images of Hindu gods as well as the baby’s horoscope, stating his date and place of birth, were also found inside the wooden box. The little girl, named Ganga, the Hindu name for the Ganges river, was brought to the hospital where she will be taken care of by the authorities. “It is difficult to say for sure how long she floated on the river,” said OP Singh, head of the local police.
