“I have neighbors who no longer dare to leave their homes at night”
For several months, the phenomenon even seems to have grown. “It farts about three to four times a week. The only days off are Sundays and Mondays. There are fights all the time, more and more thefts… By summer, there will be a stab wound or something really serious”, warns a resident, whose window directly overlooks the street.
Recently, the latter filmed a violent brawl between dozens of young people. In particular, we see several individuals kicking the head of a person on the ground, unconscious. One example among many others because videos of the same type, this inhabitant has several in his possession.
VIDEO. Fights, police intervention… Images of violence in the street
“I am collecting evidence to alert the authorities. This is no longer possible. We are not calm. We try to avoid going home between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., we have to be careful that our building door is closed otherwise people try to come in… I have older neighbours, who don’t no longer dare to leave their homes at night. »
If he calls the police regularly, it would sometimes be difficult for them to intervene in time.
Street covered in vomit, screams…
The man, who has lived in this street for almost two years, also complains of noise pollution in addition to growing insecurity. On this subject, he points the finger at certain bars, such as Ayers Rock, whose clientele cannot stand.
“These are very young people who party like there’s no tomorrow. As a result, the street is covered in vomit, they scream and continue their evenings outside after leaving the bar…”.
Despite everything, he relativizes and believes that “if the bar was closed, there would only be room for fights” and that the street would really become “a cutthroat”.
“It is not the activity of bars that generates delinquency and fights”
Precisely, on the side of the bars, the concern is also growing. The director of Hell’s Kitchen and Ayers Rock insists on the importance of not conflating his clientele with the “organized gangs that hang out in the neighborhood”.
