VIDEO. In New York, social distancing taken very seriously in parks

The images have circulated on social networks: vast circles drawn on the ground in a park to respond to social distancing measures. These photos of Domino Park in Brooklyn were taken by photographer Noam Galai on May 17. While walking, it is first of all a normal park that the photographer observes. “And then you get to the grass part and all of a sudden you see all the circles, and everyone is in their circle“, he says. Noam Galai was particularly struck by the behavior of the people present in these circles:”As if it wasn’t new“, he summarizes. Children and adults were thus installed in their respective circles, allowing themselves in the process to invent some activities adapted to the circumstances.

The confinement obligation remains in force in New York. For Noam Galai, if the situation is obviously not as usual, he would not mind if it continues after confinement. “I wouldn’t mind if it stayed like this. Maybe not that strict but, you know, giving us general direction“, he explains.
