The BBC highlighted the statements of a spokesman for the North Wales police, in which he stated: “We are aware of a video clip circulated on social networks containing footage of a clash that took place inside a stadium at the end of the football match between the Bangor 1876 and 1879 reel. “
“We are in contact with the Wales Football Association and with representatives of the two clubs,” he added.
He concluded: “There were safety elements in the stadium to maintain public safety, however, we will conduct an investigation into the circumstances of this incident and consider the necessary measures to ensure that such incidents are minimized in the future.”
In turn, Real Madrid manager Gareth Thomas denounced these events, stressing that the player’s behavior is unacceptable, knowing that he received a red card for his objection to the referee’s decisions.
Thomas said: “The scenes at the end of the game are not good, not for that we spent 20 months trying to build the club, what happened is a shame in every sense.”
He added: “The players can see what they have done and they have to take responsibility, because they let the club down, it wasn’t good at all.”
The Real Club apologizes
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have issued a statement stating: “We are deeply saddened by the events that took place on the pitch at the end of the match against our friends from Bangor 1876”.
“We would like to thank the North Wales police for their support of football, the fans and especially the club’s volunteers, who give their time to create matches like this.”
The statement concluded: “We apologize to everyone, and this matter will be dealt with internally as a matter of urgency, and we are awaiting the referee’s report, and will not make any further comments at the moment.”
Reel 1879 was re-established in 2020, following the collapse of FC Reel, while Bangor 1876 was formed in 2019.
Usually, this match is seen as a historic derby in North Wales, particularly in the Ardal North West League.
