Paris 2024 – Volleyball: France-Germany summary
Facing a very tough opponent, the French volleyball team beat the Germans (3-2) on Monday after an extremely hard-fought match.
The French volleyball team is stunning. Trailing two sets to zero, the French volleyball players won (3-2) on Monday, August 5, at the end of a very hard-fought match against Germany at the Arena Paris Sud. However, the French team got off to a bad start, with a first set clearly dominated by their opponents (18-25). In a more hard-fought second set, the French team were surprised by an excellent German serve (26-28). However, buoyed by the 13,000 spectators at the Arena Paris Sud, who have been loyal to the event since the start of the Games, the French team managed to alternate their attacks to outwit the opposing defense.
With their backs to the wall, and despite an ultra-solid defense from the Germans, Earvin Ngapeth and his teammates managed to equalize at two sets each (25-20, 25-21). Qualification was thus decided in the deciding set. Confident, the French won this final set thanks to a missed serve from the Germans (15-13). Olympic champions in Tokyo three years ago, the Blues are back in the last four of the Olympic tournament. This time at home, they will face Italy, one of the favorites for the final victory, on Wednesday, August 7.
