Manchester United and Leicester City have kept the head-to-head race for the Champions League spots in the English Premier League open. Record champions Manchester celebrated a 2-0 (1-0) win at Crystal Palace and, as fifth in the table, moved up to third place against Chelsea as well as Leicester City (both 62). The 2016 champion successfully defended the fourth and last starting place for the premier class with a 2-0 (1-0) win against Sheffield United.
Marcus Rashford, of all people, laid the foundation stone for the victory for ManUnited in London. The England international, who received an honorary doctorate from the University of Manchester for his struggle for the needy in Britain, scored the visitors’ lead in the first minute of stoppage time at half-time. Anthony Martial made it 2-0 on Rashford’s assist in the 78th minute.
Leicester had previously exerted pressure on Manchester with the well-deserved win against Chelsea defeat Sheffield. Leicester put pressure on from the start and was rewarded with the 1-0 win by Ayoze Perez with a low shot from 14 meters (29th). The decision was made by Demarai Gray’s 2-0 victory (79th).
