BRATISLAVA – In the three finalists of the poll of the International Federation of Football Associations for the most beautiful goal of 2022, there is also the disabled Polish footballer Marcin Oleksy.

The other nominees for the Puskás Award are the Brazilian Richarlison and the French Dimitri Payet. FIFA reported about it on the website.

Oleksy made it to the final selection thanks to an acrobatic finish in the meeting of his Warta Poznań against Stal Řešov. He can become the first disabled footballer to receive the award. Oleksy has an amputated leg, footballers with this kind of handicap play with crutches.

Payet bids for victory with his exhibition volley from the Europa Conference League quarter-final, which helped Marseille progress past PAOK Thessaloniki. Richarlison is nominated for his quick tackle and subsequent overhead kick in the World Cup clash with Serbia.

A year ago, the Argentinean Erik Lamela won the award. Among the three finalists was also the goal of the Czech representative Patrik Schick, which was scored from almost half the field at the Euros against Scotland.
