Gone are the days when children couldn’t wait to get rid of homework to play Tetris. Now they spend their free time in front of car or airplane simulators.

Passion that can bring in thousands of euros per month
More than 7 million Romanians play on their phone, computer or console. Thousands of young people and children flock to every gaming event, to find out as quickly as possible the news from the games market. That’s how it was today at Bucharest Gaming Week. Virtual experiences were the most sought after. Even the Ministry of Defense had its own stand where children gathered to shoot at the targets on the monitors.
Those who want to turn their passion for computer games into a job can become youtube streamers. I mean they live stream how it’s played. A streamer with over 100,000 subscribers can easily earn thousands of euros every month.
Gabriela Bucur, gaming streamer: I stream from Monday to Thursday, but I try to be more and more active, around 2-3 hours.
The dangers in front of the computer
However, the dangers in front of the computer are no joke. The first and most important rule: don’t trust strangers.
Tudor Dăescu, Bucharest Gaming Week organizer: They must be careful about the source of information. Many times, those who try to steal their data, or even the money from their accounts, use well-known figures, familiar to them, from influencers or well-known game names that they access, believing that they are the original ones.
The gaming industry is gigantic in Romania – it exceeded 330 million euros last year. The average salary in the industry is 7,000 lei, but abroad or as a freelancer you can reach 10,000 euros per month.
