Video from Vaterstetten – Von Rinftln and Nebel – Ebersberg

There are questions that sound harmless and yet cause explosives. “Where are you from?” Is one of them – and not just in the dialog between parents and offspring at 2:30 in the morning. But is a person’s origin, the region with whose dialect they were socialized automatically synonymous with “home”? What is this? Actor Thomas Maria Peters deals with this in his program “Sorry, where are you going home?” Because Baldham is currently unable to perform his literary search for traces in front of and with an audience, he posted 57 minutes of it on his YouTube channel – the premiere was on Saturday.

The result: a real treat! This is thanks to the perfect backdrop – the film was shot in the deserted Vaterstetten community library – and above all Peters’ “Elan, commitment and joy” with which, as library manager Patrizia Schukowski aptly remarks, he approaches his events. Right from the start, the versatile mimes and director show the pleasure with which he presents the found objects of his meticulous preoccupation with the subject. For example the strange results of the first keyword search. Or the location of “home”, which, according to Theodor Storm, must be in Husum, while Hermann Hesse settles it in the Black Forest and Joseph von Eichendorff generally “behind the mountains”.

It is quite possible that the “Wurchterdinger Schorschl from Zwickhartl-Kretzenwaging” created by Jörg Maurer sees it the same way. His appearance marks the successful introduction to the reading from “Bayern für die Hosentasche”, but is by no means the highlight. The fact is that he plays in a tavern where a stranger orders “Rinftln”. Not only with the guest, but also with the audience, the tension increases every minute, what the dish may consist of. The outcome of the scene is not revealed here, just this much: It is hard to believe that anyone other than the author Maurer himself can present his deliciously accurate observations and, above all, the diaphragmatic exchange of blows with the waitress so vividly. However, Peters, who was born in Esslingen, succeeds perfectly.

Later there is a second sample of his talent for dialects. The template comes from “What we don’t have, you don’t need” by Dieter Moor (today “Max Moor”). The author takes those looking for home with him to “America” - in Brandenburg. The focus is again on the conversation with a woman – this time a strict smock-wearer, in whose shop the narrator wants to buy ingredients for his breakfast. Here too: full physical effort at Peters. And while the lady with the “ham-wa-not-face” is getting more and more angry, the good mood level of the around 70 Internet premiere guests increases significantly.
