Vladimír Weiss senior, Slovan: “After the difficult cup match in Greece, it was clear that I had to give a chance to the players of the wider squad. It was a good league match, and for the fact that it was played early on Sunday evening, it had a decent backdrop. In addition to the goals, we had several chances that we did not convert. Skalica played sympathetically and did not concrete like other teams in the league. I have my fingers crossed for them, they are our friends. They have an experienced coach, a good team and I am convinced that they will save themselves in the league. After the break, we wanted to tire the opponent, which we succeeded in. With three we are satisfied with the points. It was a good preparation for us for Thursday’s game of the year against Olympiakos Piraeus. Everything is in our hands. I would like to invite the spectators, they were excellent against Ferencváros. We will give everything and I believe they will be satisfied.”
Juraj Jarábek, Skalica: “As newcomers, we played against the best team in Slovakia and we wanted to enjoy the match. A decent first half from our side, the boys followed our instructions. However, we had easy losses from the 30th minute, a shame the goal went into the locker room after a schoolboy mistake. In the second half we substituted, we knew that Slovan would continue the pressure game. It’s a shame that we didn’t equalize after the action of Yaa and Vlasko. Subsequently, Slovan scored the second goal from the penalty box, which in my view should not have been because Václav fouled the opponent even before the penalty box. To Vlad and I congratulate Slovan on the three points.”
