[VIDEO] Fire in the Petits-Clos district in Chartres: what we know

Good reflexes and the speed of the emergency services made it possible to avoid greater damage, this evening, Wednesday September 22, 2021, in a residence located on the Mail des Petits-Clos in Chartres (Eure-et-Loir).

It was around 8 p.m. when a kitchen fire declared himself in an apartment on the third floor of this HLM.

The fire did not spread in the apartment

An 18-year-old young woman and her two brothers were inside the apartment. They quickly alerted the neighbors and “everyone was evacuated before the arrival of help and police”, according to a tenant.

Lieutenant Frédéric Guichard emphasizes solidarity in this neighborhood facing the disaster and the good reflexes applied by the inhabitants: “the doors were closed, which probably meant that the flames did not spread to the other rooms of this 80 m2 apartment, nor to the neighboring dwellings”.

The speed of emergency response hailed

Thanks to the rapid response and the organization of emergency services, the fire was extinguished in about fifteen minutes.

The excavation was a delicate maneuver, because it was not necessary to damage the facade of the residence.

The disaster mobilized twenty-three firefighters from Chartres, Lucé and Maintenon. A spear has been deployed.

The relocated family

The 18-year-old was slightly inconvenienced by the smoke. She was transported to the Chartres hospital center.

Franck Masselus, elected permanent Chartres, came to the site and the town hall found a rehousing solution for this family.

No other inhabitant must leave the residence, and everyone has been able to return to their home as they go.
