VIDEO. Fire in a warehouse in Seine-Saint-Denis: the fire has been brought under control

The fire in a 4000 m2 warehouse in Aubervilliers, in the suburbs of Paris, was under control Friday in the middle of the day and did not cause any injuries, AFP learned from the firefighters.

“It’s over, we are in the process of disengaging the teams”, the spokesperson for the Paris fire brigade, Lieutenant-Colonel Claire Boët, told AFP.

The fire broke out between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. in a warehouse of around 4,000 m2 in Aubervilliers, according to the spokesperson. This warehouse stores, among other things, antiques and fabrics. The disaster did not cause any injuries and about fifty people living in the vicinity were evacuated and taken care of by the town hall, she said.

Disrupted transport

The fire, close to the tracks between La Courneuve and La Plaine, interrupted the traffic of several transport lines. “Three lines are still interrupted because of the fire: the RER B between Aulnay and Gare du Nord, line K, and the TER Paris-Laon (Aisne)”, without impact on TGV traffic, said SNCF, joined by AFP. “The resumption of traffic is expected around 12 noon on these three lines”, she clarified.

According to AFP journalists on the spot, a large cloud of smoke was emerging. “The quality of the air is locally likely to be impacted”, estimated Airparif on Twitter.

According to Lieutenant-Colonelle Boët, “There are no risks to be had in relation to the nature of the fumes given off” according to samples from the central laboratory of the police headquarters and the specialized CBRN team (nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical) from the fire brigade.
