The analysis of the image in the video documents with the help of experts, the scenes that unfolded immediately after with the rescuers fighting over the wreckage of the cars and the complaints of residents of the area about improvised fights at the site, are causing reactions.
According to residents of the area, the car that caused the accident crashed that morning, on the beach of the area. Inside it were two Roma who were injured. Two people who have been reported to the authorities in the past, for participating in illegal speed races.
It all happens at noon last Friday. A few meters before the point of the collision, the car that caused the accident is recorded going by like a fireball.
He enters the opposite stream to overtake – and as can be seen in the video – the driver decides to brake, but it is impossible to maintain control. The vehicle continues and crashes into the unfortunate mother’s car. Her death is instantaneous. Her close relatives talk to MEGA about crime.
“At 180 km it hits Nadia head-on, literally disintegrates it, and then hits a second jeep,” they describe.
The unfortunate woman was going normally without running. Behind her, a car, with its driver injured. He talks about the accident and the nightmarish moments that followed:
“We were going to Nafplio with the sorry woman. Me behind, her in front. At 60km we were going, right in our lane, normally. We were going to Nafplio, he was coming from Nafplio. It came with a lot of kilometers, with 160, 170 somewhere there. He loses control of his car and with the rear left crashes first into my front and then into me.”
As he says and the footage shows, after the collision he managed to get out of his car. He walks to his girlfriend’s car and his worst fears are confirmed:
“As soon as the accident happened, before the police and EKAV came, I went down to see if Nadia was alive or died in front of me. I open the door and there was nothing. Her body had logically gone under the car. Her body was not in the driver’s seat.”
Neither he nor the unfortunate woman who was killed had time to react. The oncoming car was virtually out of control at the speed it had developed and braking was impossible to prevent the accident.
“I don’t remember if I hit the brakes. Go with 170, 160 and lose control. He lost his car. He didn’t fight, he was alone,” describes the driver.
Video analysis by experts
With the help of experts, an attempt is made to approximate the speeds of the vehicles. The vehicle in front moves at 60 km per hour and the one that follows and finally causes the accident at more than double the speed.
As it appears from the analysis of the image they made, the car with the two Roma was going to this point at 170 km/h.
