VIDEO Djokovic started his journey to Federer’s record: he didn’t lose a set with Tsitsipas in Turin

TURIN – Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic successfully presented himself at the Tournament of Champions in Turin. In the red group, at the seven seed position, he defeated Greek second seed “spider” Stefanos Tsitsipas 6:4, 7:6 (4). The Serbian can win a sixth title at the end of the season and thus equal the record of the Swiss Roger Federer.

Djokovic had an ideal match start with Tsitsipas, when he broke his opponent’s serve in the opening game and turned the break lead into a first set win. The Serbian was sovereign in his own service, making a minimum of unforced errors in exchanges.

At the start of the second set, Tsitsipas got the first break point after a double fault from Djokovic. However, the Serbian rejected him and leveled the score at 2:2. The fate of the set was finally decided by a tiebreak, in which Djokovic prevailed.

At 6:4, he converted the very first match point and followed up with a semifinal triumph over Tsitsipas of the Paris Masters 1000 tournament – He’s already 10:2 up in the head-to-head record, while on a nine-game winning streak consecutive.
