A true star in Russia, Alain Delon was even the subject of a song in his glory, the work of a Soviet rock group in the 80s. The lyrics notably mention the fact that the actor does not “drink cologne”.
A legend of French cinema, known throughout the world, Alain Delon, who died on August 18 at the age of 88, enjoyed a very special aura in Russia.

So much so that in 1986, the Soviet group Nautilus Pompilius dedicated a song to him called “Vzglyad s ekrana” (“View from the screen” in French), more commonly known as “Alain Delon”. It is notably about the monotonous life of a woman who is a fan of Alain Delon, his only ray of sunshine in his gloomy daily life.
The song, well known to Russians, is based on a very ironic refrain, emphasizing the perfection of the actor: “Alain Delon does not drink cologne / Alain Delon drinks double bourbon / Alain Delon speaks French.”

“If the quality is good, I drink cologne”
Invited to a Russian late show on the Perviy Kanal channel in December 2012, the presenter of the program took the opportunity to ask the person concerned whether or not he drank eau de Cologne. To which he replied, amused: “That’s not true, I don’t usually drink eau de Cologne, but if the quality is good, I drink eau de Cologne.”
And the actor then poured a few drops into his cup before drinking the contents.
