Deputy Prime Minister Dan Barna is dissatisfied with the UDMR’s decision to support the transfer to the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Criminal Crimes Investigation Section (SIIJ) and not its abolition, he said that “this is why there is great frustration and this is somehow , a revolt because we agreed that the SIIJ should be abolished, everyone agreed when we made the governing program, including the colleagues from UDMR “.
“It is a very big dissatisfaction, because it is a much more important subject than a conjunctural positioning. (…) This is exactly what the UDMR proposal says: yes, we abolish it, but we move everything to the Prosecutor’s Office and change the plaque on the door (…) That is why there is a lot of frustration and that is why it is, somehow, a revolt because I agreed that the SIIJ is being abolished, everyone agreed when we made the governing program, including colleagues from UDMR , and in the governing program it is written exactly that, that the competencies are returned to the prosecutor’s offices as before and now the colleagues from UDMR somehow no longer agree with what they agreed when signing the governing program “, said Dan Barna, on Wednesday evening at Digi 24.
Barna pointed out that maintaining the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism on justice and the fact that Romania will not enter the Schengen area is “a very high cost that the whole of Romania must pay because the coalition partners from UDMR consider that the abolition of the Special Section it can mean a find of this, a Romanian or a Hungarian one in which we abolish it, but in fact we only move it completely to the General Prosecutor’s Office ”.
Asked if, in his opinion, UDMR agrees with PSD on this subject, Deputy Prime Minister Dan Barna answered in the affirmative, stating that he transmitted this to those from UDMR “in various forms”.

“Ask our coalition colleagues at UDMR why they have this position,” Barna added.
He mentioned that the abolition of SIIJ cannot be achieved without the support of UDMR.
He said that “in the pessimistic way” the problem related to the abolition of the Special Section “can be solved in September”, and the “optimistic” hypothesis would be the one in which it would be abolished in two weeks.
