This was the image Friday afternoon at the Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport of Suriname. Hundreds of passengers stranded in Suriname had come to the airport to fly back to the Netherlands at the time of writing with the KLM, SLM and TUI.
Until Sunday, KLM has planned a flight every week from Zanderij to Schiphol. This especially for all travelers who are stuck in Suriname because of the closure of the airspace.
Conversely, the repatriation of travelers from Suriname stranded in the Netherlands has not yet started. This is because Suriname has not yet given permission to the airlines to fly travelers back from the Netherlands to Suriname.
