1,537 new cases of Covid-19 contamination were confirmed in Morocco in 24 hours, bringing to 52,349 cases the total number of people tested positive for the new coronavirus, announces the Ministry of Health, this Sunday, August 23 at 6 p.m.

The number of active patients has increased considerably in recent days. It now stands at 15,118.

The Ministry of Health has identified 30 deaths and 1,303 healings in 24 hours, bringing the official toll to 888 deaths and 35,040 remissions since the start of the epidemic in Morocco on March 2, 2020.

In Mauritania, 9 new cases, zero deaths and 17 recoveries were recorded during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 6,894, including 6,203 recoveries. The country currently has 533 active cases. No deaths have been recorded during the last 48 hours and the number of people who have died from Covid-19 has stabilized at 158.

The pandemic caused by the new coronavirus has killed at least 805,470 people worldwide since the WHO office in China reported the onset of this disease at the end of December, according to a report established by AFP from official sources Sunday at 11:00 GMT.
