While details and the specific release date for “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” are still a long way off, a video shows how similar the game and the film template are.
In the course of the pre-show for the Game Awards 2021 „The Texas Chain Saw Massacre“ announced another game from Gun Media. Once again, players can expect an asymmetrical multiplayer title that is apparently comparable to “Friday the 13th: The Game”.
The developers have not yet released meaningful gameplay scenes. However, a new video released over the weekend shows some of the scenes. These are compared with the film original from 1974.

Apparently, the developers of “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” strive to recreate the locations from the film almost flawlessly. While the comparison primarily serves to demonstrate the care that has gone into the multiplayer survival horror game, it also provides a glimpse of the environments players will visit in the game.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will of course focus on the Slaughter family farm and home. However, players will also visit the iconic gas station frequented by the original film’s hapless protagonists.
Ultimately, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre seems to authentically recreate the look and feel of the original ’70s slasher flick. The upcoming video game also brings back Kane Hodder as Leatherface, which should bring authenticity to the project.
Ronnie Hobbs, creative director at Gun Interactive, stressed last year that the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is probably his favorite horror film. And he can’t wait for everyone to see more of what’s being developed in the studio.
