Video circulates of two children drinking alcohol at street party

A video of two children who are hardly twelve years old is circulating on social networks drinking alcoholic beverages, while they participated in a street party in a neighborhood of the country, not identified in the recording, during curfew hours.

“What does it matter to me, bring me the other wine to drink it,” said one of the minors in a drunken state and lying on the ground, while the person who was recording laughed out loud at the situation.

The sale or consumption of alcoholic beverages in minors is penalized, according to the Law 136-3 on the Code for the Protection of children and adolescents of August 7, 2003.

The purpose of the provision is to guarantee to all children and adolescents who are in the national territory the full and effective exercise and enjoyment of their fundamental rights. For such purposes, it defines and establishes the comprehensive protection of these rights, regulating the role and relationship of the State, society, families, and individuals with subjects from birth to 18 years of age.

The National Council for Children and Adolescents (Conani), monitors cases of this nature and any other that violates the rights of minors. Any person who knows the case and wants to offer more details about this or any other that involves children, report it to the institution by calling 809- 567-2233.
