VIDEO: Children are rescued from a creek in Raleigh

Raleigh.- The consequences of tornado Debby are still being felt in North Carolina and water rescue teams saved three children who were trapped in a creek in Raleigh.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, on Partridge Lane, when a neighbor noticed the children swimming in the neighborhood creek, ABC 11 reported.

The neighbor warned them about the danger of strong currents, and the children continued into the water.

Fortunately, rescue teams arrived in time to get them out of the creek without any serious incidents. The video shows more than five rescuers and a boat at the scene.

The experts threw a rope so that the children could climb into the boat.

“We were on a bike ride through the woods and I think we got off our bikes and discovered this (the creek),” one of the boys told WRAL News.

Two of the children crossed the stream without problems, but the others could not and began to slide into the water.

“Andrew grabbed onto a branch and it broke and he slid down, then he grabbed onto it,” one boy told the local outlet.

Authorities remind the community of the importance of staying away from bodies of water and flooded areas during these extreme weather conditions.
