Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz on Friday evening in Vienna: “As head of government and as chairman of the People’s Party, I discussed with the team of ÖVP government members today. And we have agreed that, as staunch democrats, we will of course accept if there are other majorities in parliament. At the same time, however, we would also like to state that as a team of the People’s Party in the government we are able to act and, above all, willing to act. And I think we have proven that in the last year and a half, working with our coalition partner. When I think of the pandemic in the fight, when I think of the economic and labor market measures and also when I think that we only recently launched an eco-social tax reform. From my point of view, and I have learned that in the last 10 years of my government activity, from my point of view it is usually the case in heated times that there is a lot of communication about one another and sometimes too little is spoken to one another. As far as I am concerned, I will therefore remain in constant dialogue with the Federal President and do everything possible to ensure stability. And of course I will also approach the Vice Chancellor, seek a conversation with him and advise on how to proceed in the federal government. Thanks very much!”
