The Central Market of Paramaribo (CMP) has been thoroughly washed. The Vreedzaammarkt in Paramaribo Center has also undergone a wash last week after years. Public markets have been closed since the outbreak of the third wave of the current pandemic.
Pending the government’s decision to reopen the public markets, these are undergoing maintenance. Market master Aniel Dhanai indicates this to the BIC Paramaribo North-East. ‘Before the Central Market reopened, it was necessary to thoroughly wash the market first.
Thorough washing of the market is an action that must be done every 3 months. However, this did not always happen on time.
The market master sends a special word of thanks to the Suriname Fire Brigade, Public Greenery & Waste Management Directorate of the Ministry of Public Works and district commissioner Ricardo Bhola of Paramaribo North-East and his team on the markets.
