“The whole half of the engine was completely torn off, the trim tabs broken,” the ship’s captain said.
A man captured on video the moment when a bull shark attacked his friend’s boat while fishing off the coast of Palm Beach, Florida, reported this Friday local media.
The incident took place when Josh Jorgensen, a presenter for a fishing YouTube channel, saw two large cobia swimming very close to a shark as his drone was flying from the beach.
According to Outdoor Life magazine, cobia are fish that commonly ignorant near the wakes of bull sharks to hunt for bait, crustaceans and other prey that these carnivorous animals lift from the seabed.
After spotting the fish, Jorgensen told his friend Carl Torreson, the captain of a fishing boat, to go catch them. However, the shark began to attack the rear of the boat, specifically between outboard motorswhile its crew members tried to catch the cobia.

“The shark attacked the boat five times, swam away and then came back for more,” Jorgensen said in a video shared on his social networks, ensuring that the animal “attacked Carl’s boat eight times” in total.
After the boat returned to the dock, Torreson assessed the damage the shark had done to one of the outboard motors. “The whole half of the engine was completely torn off, the trim tabs broken,” Torreson said, adding that he never thought “that a shark could rock a boat like that.”
Bull sharks are medium-sized predators, which can measure up to almost 3 meters and weigh around 230 kilograms. The National Wildlife Foundation warns that these sharks represent a danger to humans due to their aggressiveness and ability to survive in fresh water, as well as swim upstream.
