WhatsApp seems to be working on a possibility to make (video) calling within the web application of the communication service.

WABetaInfo delved into a recent update to the web version and took several screenshots of what the support might look like. It is expected that (video) calling via WhatsApp Web works in the same way as via the telephone.
The images clearly show the implementation of the function. For example, it can be seen that the web version will also have a camera and telephone icon with which you can choose between a video call or a voice call. When receiving a call, a pop-up appears to allow you to answer or reject the call.

Since WhatsApp itself has added a beta label to the new feature, it is likely that it will be available to everyone soon. The option to (video) calling has been available for the WhatsApp apps for Android and iOS for some time.
Now that people spend a lot of time at home at their computer, the implementation of the function in the web version is a pleasant side effect. At an earlier time during the corona crisis, WhatsApp already made it possible video calls to eight people at the same time.
