The sovereign leader of the competition from Boston defeated Detroit 3:2 in Saturday’s NHL game on home ice, although they were losing by two goals after the first period. The Bruins equalized in the second half, and forward Garnet Hathaway, a fresh recruit from Washington, scored the winning goal six minutes before the end.
The Bruins set a new league record by becoming the fastest in history to reach 50 regular season wins. They only needed 64 meetings. They surpassed the previous records of Detroit from the 1995/96 season and Tampa Bay from the 2018/2019 season, both teams won their 50th win in 66 games.
The “Bears” improved their appetite after the previous loss against Edmonton (2:3), they recorded their tenth victory in eleven fights. Already at night, as the first team in the league, they can secure a promotion to the playoffs well in advance.
