Amanda Knox became world famous in 2007 as the accused in the Meredith Kercher murder.
The American was sentenced by an Italian court in 2009 to a prison term of 26 years.
Her appearance in the courtroom earned her the nickname “Angel with the Ice Eyes”.
In 2011 an appeal court overturned the judgment. Knox returns to the United States after nearly four years in prison.
The case continues to wander through the courts: in 2015, the Supreme Court of Cassation acquitted her of the murder charge.
In 2019, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that Italy had to pay Knox over 18,000 euros in compensation.
The reason: The Italian authorities violated several human rights when questioning Knox.
Also in 2019, Knox will speak at a congress on legal errors in Italy.
