Alexandru Rafila, the main communicator of PSD in the sanitary field, declared on Friday that a national quarantine of one month is needed, decided by mutual agreement with the employers and the unions, to quickly decrease the number of Covid deaths.
Asked by journalists if he proposes a quarantine at national level, Rafila said: “Yes, but one that takes into account realities. There must be a reduction in activities supported by the population, which is done together with the participation of those affected, explained and accepted by mutual agreement. We propose a month of solidarity. We don’t have to scare the world. “
He said he had talks with representatives of the private sector and trade unions and would send the government a series of proposals. “Everyone has the right to an opinion. However, everyone must understand, we are affected by this horrible number of 500 deaths a day. We can control this in a shorter time, to limit human and economic damage. Or we can come up with half measures and procrastination, and we remain at the forefront of the ranking of the dead. This is intolerable “, said Rafila.
He said that among the proposals he will send to the government is the reduction of activity in the Horeca sector “for a limited period of time”, which he said is supported by employers’ organizations, but on condition that the government assumes fast payment of financial aid for the affected businesses. “Financial aid is needed for activities to remain open. This situation of permanent provisioning only deepens the distrust of the private sector. I do not want to go into technical details, we will send some ideas that must be agreed by the participants. But it is important for the private environment to be involved in the decision “, Rafila added.
Rafila said that in recent days he had formal discussions about the pandemic with representatives of trade unions, major economic operators and the education environment.
Regarding the law dropped in the Senate on the obligation of the Green Certificate, Rafila said that PSD will propose amendments in the Chamber of Deputies. “The draft law must not be discriminatory and must not endanger the functioning of the health system. A rewritten form of the project must be for a very clearly determined period, not just during the alert period, which lasts for a year and a half. We cannot but support access to testing, but we must be encouraged by the state, and we do not believe that the provisions related to the payment of tests are good “, he said in a press statement.
