On 3 October, the commander of the units defending Mariupol first met his family after being released from Russian captivity in Turkey. This was announced by the first lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, on her Telegram channel.

The first lady noted that there are many Ukrainians and Ukrainian women in Russian captivity. “The main thing is that Ukraine is fighting and will fight for all our people. There are still many in Russian captivity: men and women, military and civilians. And we need them all. Alive,” she said.
