The accident involving a subway train and a rental bicycle occurred this Sunday, September 19, 2021 in New York (United States).

This Sunday, around 10:30 p.m. (US time), a subway train bound for Manhattan struck head-on a rental bike left a few moments earlier on the tracks.
In a video posted on Instagram, relayed by the American media, which has since been deleted, we can see a Citi bike being run over by the passage of the train at the Steinway station in the Queens district of New York.
The accident which thus causes gigantic sparks on the rails before the train driver activates the emergency stop button.
The evacuated station
Following this accident, the station was completely evacuated for more than an hour and a half, to make way for helpers who cleaned the tracks. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of this accident.
US authorities have opened an investigation. Police said they were actively looking for the man responsible for voluntarily throwing his bike on the rails.
