The Canadian press has disclosed images in which a supermarket staff member cleans the shopping baskets with a cloth apparently covered with his saliva.
The video was recorded by a client on July 5 at a branch of the FreshCo chain, in the Canadian city of Toronto. The material shows the employee who seems spit on a towel, with which he then cleans the baskets.
The author of the recording reported that she went to the management of that establishment to make a complaint, but they did not believe it and gave “bad customer service”. They then notified him that the recording person had already does not work in the store.
The company that owns the supermarket chain reported that said individual was not an employee of FreshCo, but works in an external company that provides cleaning services. It also ensured that the safety and health of its clients and staff it’s a priority, even more so during the coronavirus pandemic.
