Video: A scene from a crazy comedy. Saving the innkeeper’s barrels hurt a lot

Northern Irish bar owner Dan McCallion has had an adrenaline-filled day at work. While inside by the faucet, he suddenly heard suspicious noises outside. He immediately ran out into the street and saw his two kegs of beer rolling uncontrollably down the street. He started running after them without hesitation and after a few tens of meters he managed to reach them despite an unfortunate fall. Social networks are now having fun with the exhibition of him.

In the video from industrial cameras, you can see how two fifty-liter barrels suddenly start rolling along the street filled with parked cars due to strong winds. The owner of the Abercorn Bar in Derry, Northern Ireland mindlessly chases them in his apron and tries to catch up with them. But the barrels continue down the steep hill, narrowly missing the stationary vehicles.

“I saw them heading towards a busy road. I thought they could cause serious damage or an accident if I didn’t stop them,” the innkeeper told British tabloid The Daily Mail. He finally managed to get close to the barrels. But at that moment he tripped over one of them and fell to the ground. But he managed to stop them both during the fall: he grabbed one with his hands and stopped the other with his swinging leg.

The barrels caused no damage in the crash, but McCallion himself sprained his ankle and injured his shoulder in the crash. “I’ve had a few crashes off the bike, so I’m used to it,” the innkeeper commented. “But I only started laughing about it when we put this video together. It’s funny looking back on it,” he added.

The footage, which McCallion posted to his company’s Facebook page, has gone viral on social media. Commentators particularly note his speed and promptness. “It might have saved someone’s life, I’m not kidding. Very impressive!” commented a user. “He definitely deserves a bigger salary for it,” joked another commenter.

McCallion has also received accolades from his own employees. Now they nickname him “SuperDana” in reference to the famous comic book character with extraordinary powers. “Not all heroes have to wear a cape,” the staff added to the posted video.
