The plane ATR 72 of the airline company “Yeti Airlines” was on its way from Kathmandu to Pokhara, it crashed and caught fire during landing.
There were 68 passengers on the plane, including at least 15 foreigners, as well as four crew members.
Hundreds of soldiers are involved in rescue operations at the crash site near the airport of the city popular with tourists.
“We expect to find more bodies,” an army spokesman told Reuters news agency, adding that the plane had “broken into pieces”.
The passengers included 53 Nepali nationals, five Indian nationals, four Russian nationals and two South Korean nationals, as well as one each from Ireland, Australia, Argentina and France.
