In an unprecedented turn in Liga MX, Tigres goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán has received one of the most severe sanctions after an incident of indiscipline during the classic against Rayados de Monterrey. The Disciplinary Commission of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) imposed a suspension of 11 games on Patón, in addition to a financial fine and the obligation to perform community work. This punishment responds to the actions of the goalkeeper, who, from a box, used a laser to harass his professional colleague and compatriot, Esteban Andrada, the Rayados goalkeeper.
The controversy arose in the 3-3 tie corresponding to date 15 of the Clausura Tournament. Although Guzmán did not participate in the game because he was recovering from an injury, his unsportsmanlike conduct was evidenced when he was filmed pointing the laser. The images, which soon went viral on social networks, showed the former Newell’s goalkeeper pointing towards the pitch, an action that has been condemned by both fans and sports authorities.
This sanction reflects the federation’s commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and Fair Play, rigorously applying the Sanctions Regulations in its article 18, which condemns any conduct that is detrimental to the spectacle and integrity of football.
The ruling of the Disciplinary Commission against Nahuel Guzmán:
In its autonomous capacity, this Commission has resolved to sanction the player Nahuel Ignacio Guzmán Palomeque of Club Tigres with 11 suspension matches, a financial fine and hours of social work.for hima conduct shown during the aforementioned match that violates the FMF Sanctions Regulations, in its following articles and their respective subsections:

Andrada’s response was immediate, expressing his displeasure through an Instagram story with words that also earned him a financial penalty from the commission, for violating the code of conduct on social networks, specifically what is stipulated in the Article 71, which demands respect and prudence in public communication.
The ruling against Esteban Andrada:
The Monterrey Soccer Club player, Esteban Maximiliano Andrada, is financially sanctioned due to a publication made on social networks since he violated article 71, paragraph c) and article 1 of Appendix III, of the FMF Sanctions Regulations:
Article 71
“All Subjects to this Regulation who commit the following offenses will be sanctioned as appropriate in each case:
(…)

The incident adds tension to the rivalry between both teams, who share a history of memorable confrontations in Mexican soccer. Rayados de Monterrey, who recently eliminated Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami in the quarterfinals of the Concachampions, is currently positioned in third place in the Liga MX standings with 29 points. For its part, Tigres is seventh with 25 points, keeping alive its hopes of direct qualification to the next phase of the tournament.
It is worth remembering that after this situation went viral, Patón Guzmán publicly apologized through a message on social networks. “As I already did privately and in coherence with the values of the Institution that I represent, I want to take advantage of the importance of Social Networks to publicly offer my apologies to Esteban for the event that occurred last night during passages of the 1st Half of the Clásico Regio,” he wrote. .
