VIDEO – A Ford Mustang Diesel tows a boat while doing “burns”

This Mustang like no other hides a diesel engine under its hood, and a tow hook at the rear.

The Ford Mustang is generally not known to be a boat towing vehicle. This is why this example equipped with a tow hook particularly attracts our attention. Especially since this Mustang towing champion is really not like the others: it hides a Diesel engine. Instead of a 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder or a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8, YouTuber Westen Champlin decided that this “Smoke-Stang” would carry a Cummins diesel engine, a 6-cylinder 5.9 liter. Originally, this engine developed 233 horsepower and 597 Nm of torque. However, after some significant changes, it probably makes a lot more, although no figures have been released.

The result is a rather bizarre creation that is now able to tow a boat without any problems. But with style! Add to this creation the sound of the huge turbo protruding from the hood, as well as a large quantity of smoke which escapes from the exhaust placed at the level of the bonnet, and you have arguably the world’s most unlikely Mustang.

A real utility?

It should be noted that this engine swap was done “just for fun”. Understand that the goal was not to transform this Mustang into a speed monster. Admittedly, the value of its torque is certainly impressive for it to be able to pull a boat like this, but it is out of the question for it to do speed runs. Even with the big turbo, it only does the quarter mile in 13.2 seconds. Which is just 0.7 seconds faster than the four-cylinder Mustang EcoBoost and 1.1 seconds slower than the Mustang GT with its V8.
