There is an emblematic site in Bogotá, within the framework of the national strike: the Transmilenio de Las Américas portal, renamed by the people as “The Portal of Resistance.” There, on May 20, there was a press conference where the petitions of the society and the list of human rights violations by the police were presented.
Later, the district government came to establish a Unified Command Post (PMU), with very little preparation and, it seems, not knowing what was happening there. The truth is that after promises to withdraw the Police Anti-Riot Mobile Squad (Esmad), it attacked the protesters, generating violence. The main victim was the credibility of the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá.
