VIDEO ⟩ Only a few of several hooligans who attacked Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam are in custody

The destruction, the likes of which Western Europe has not seen since the Second World War, has provoked the outrage of both Israel and many Dutch and foreign leaders.

So far, however, no one has been directly arrested for violence against Israelis, the prosecutor’s office admitted.

However, the prosecutor’s office has announced that new arrests are expected in the next few days, and police experts are currently trying to identify the suspected members of the riot in video recordings and photographs.

In connection with the events surrounding the football match between the teams Amsterdam “Ajax” and Tel Aviv “Maccabi”, a total of 62 people were arrested on Thursday. Another man, 26, was arrested on Friday.

Those in custody face charges of disturbing public order, but most have already been released.

The Dutch authorities believe the incident was an attack on Israeli fans. Invitations to participate in the frenzy were also distributed on social media sites.

At the same time, the Amsterdam police claim that “Maccabi” fans have already fueled the riots and fights in the city on Wednesday and Thursday before the game.

“Maccabi” fans reportedly burned Palestinian flags, shouted provocative slogans and “mocked the death of Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip”.

However, the mayor of Amsterdam, Femke Hasselm, has said that this cannot justify anti-Semitic attacks.

Videos have also been released showing Israeli fans attacking others. There have been claims that these videos were first falsely published by the international media as evidence of violence against Israelis.
