VIDEO ⟩ In Georgia, the head of the Central Election Commission is splashed with black paint during the approval session of the parliamentary election results

The event took place when Giorgi Kalandarishvili announced that the ruling party “Georgian Dream” won 53.93% of the vote. CVK representative Dāvids Kirtadze from the opposition “United National Movement” poured black paint on him.

“You won’t hear the Georgian people, you won’t hear the students who are protesting. You have taken away the future of Georgia, our future, and you are moving our country to Russia.

I can’t even call you chairman, you are “dot ru”. You are the black dot,” said Kirtadze, approaching CVK’s head with a glass containing the dark liquid.

After that, a fight broke out in the hall and the session had to be stopped. Security guards and bailiffs had to separate the members of the commission.

Opponents of the “Georgian Dream” believe that voting secrecy was violated during the elections – markings were visible on the back of the ballots.

For this reason, they insist that the election results should be sent away in 90% of the polling stations where electronic ballot boxes have been installed.

Meanwhile, a trial was held in front of the CVK office. Hundreds of people gathered there who believe that the election results are justified. Among the activists are both opposition politicians and citizens.

After some time, the session continued, and the CEC officially confirmed the election results. “Georgian Dream” got 89 parliamentary seats, four opposition parties got a total of 61 seats (“Coalition of Change” – 19, “United National Movement” – 16, “Strong Georgia” – 14, “About Georgia” – 12).
