Daniela Serdaknia scored the winning goal for the Canadian national team in the sixth minute of overtime.

The Canadian national team became the world champion after a year’s break, but triumphed for the 13th time in total. Meanwhile, the US national team has ten titles.

In regular time, Marie-Philippe Poulin scored two goals for the winners, while Erin Ambrose, Julie Gosling and Emily Clark scored once each. On the other hand, Leila Edwards, Megan Keller, Alexa Carpenter, Hilary Knight and Caroline Harvey stood out in the ranks of the USA national team.

In the fight for bronze medals, Finnish ice hockey players beat the Czech Republic 3:2 (0:0, 2:1, 0:1, 0:0, 1:0) in the shootout.

After the first period ended without a goal, Michelle Karvinen put Finland in the lead at the start of the second period after 20 seconds played, to which the Czechs responded with a goal less than five minutes later, with Mihaela Pejzlova on target.

The Finns regained a one-goal advantage in the 37th minute, when Vivi Vainika beat the Czech goalkeeper.

In the final third, the Czechs once again used the majority to equalize the score after a goal scored by Denisa Krzyzova.

The extra time ended without accurate shots, but Petra Nieminena successfully executed the winning “bullet” for Finland in the post-match series of shots.

In the semi-finals, the USA defeated Finland 5-0, while the Canadian women won 4-0 over the Czech Republic.

The teams of China and Denmark will leave the strongest division.

Last year, the USA hockey players became the world champions, defeating the Canadian women, the champions of the previous two years, in the final with 6:3.

The World Ice Hockey Championships for women have been held since 1990, and only Canada and the USA have won them, winning 13 and 10 titles, respectively. Only once has another team managed to reach the final, in 2019 the Finnish national team did it at home.
