Video ǀ FIGHTING THE DEVIL. DSO film – Friday

God knows not often there are operas by Bohuslav Martinů (1890-1959) to be seen live in this country, yes and if the opportunity then arises, the joy of the Czech-neoclassical rarities of the Lechz music theater is even more striking – in the period between 2014 and 2016 were like that The three wishes (an der UdK),Ariane (with the DSO) or Juliette (at the State Opera Unter den Linden) can be seen and heard.

Yesterday evening, the short opera, which premiered posthumously in 1960, joined us – although not live, but via video and therefore no less interesting and exciting Tears Knives (dt.:The knife’s tears) added; the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin underpinned his cinematic project [auf dso-player.de] with a recently broadcast concert that Robin Ticciati directed:

The three actors of the short opera grotesque – so too Kateřina Kněžíková (as Eleonora) and Markéta Cukrová (as mother) – were all dressed up as religious sisters; And it was only in the third third of the absurdity of action that was riddled with sex and sin that the Sataness came out personally, and by proudly and lustfully demonstrating her naked truth under the hood of the order, and so she showed us unveiled what she had and that was plain, simple and moving: exceptional !!

This musical theater piece, sung and spoken in Czech and lasting about half an hour, could not be reproduced in the most ideal way, not only because of the lack of subtitles; All the game-addicted, if not to say self-indulgent, visualization offers of the two film and video artists “irritated” and also annoyed.
