Narbonne arrives in a more than essential period for its maintenance in National 1. Three matches to play, and to start Toulon-Saint-Cyr at home (7 p.m.).
Faced with the red lantern Toulon-Saint-Cyr, which lost during its eighteen disputed meetings, the Narbonnaises will not have the right to miss each other (7 p.m. at the Dome José-Nicolaï). A golden opportunity to finally take three points to revive in this final stretch. Any other scenario than a victory would definitively bury Narbonne’s hopes of maintaining it. And if the chances of achieving this seem to be dropping week after week, all is not yet lost. A victory would allow them to pick up five points from Saint-Flour, the first non-relegation player, who will host Montpellier-Frontignan in parallel. A delay that will imperatively have to be overcome, with seven days still to play, despite a calamitous calendar. “We have to win, testified the coach, there is no question to ask. If we don’t take the points there, the rest will be even more difficult. We have to believe in it, believe in ourselves, in our team, we have to let go.” Indeed, if the next three days see the NHB face Toulon, Annecy then Échirolles, the last five will on the other hand be very unfavorable with, in order: La Motte, Montpellier, Toulouse, Nice then Pays-d’Aix to conclude. That is four opponents among the first six in the standings.
To sum up, Narbonne Handball is playing its survival, in this National 1, over these next three games. Gabriel Bircina’s players must fight to the end, returning to victory today, to hope for a fantastic comeback.
