Victory for Me Raphaël Chiche: Medical Expertise Granted for Detainee Lahouari Founas – Latest Updates, Trial Date, and More

It is a half-victory that Me Raphaël Chiche obtained this Friday morning before the Nancy investigation chamber. While the day before, he had pleaded for the release of his client, Lahouari Founas, this detainee who can no longer eat normally and for whom a doctor has prescribed removal of the gallbladder, the Parisian lawyer won a medical expertise intended to take stock of the state of health of this 27-year-old Bisontin.

The latter is indicted in particular for theft in an organized gang and criminal association. He is suspected of having participated in the robbery of the “Franck & Person” jewelry store on May 3, 2019, in Châtillon-le-Duc (Doubs), during which 20 kilos of gold and 10 kilos of platinum were stolen by a commando of five hooded and heavily armed men. Lahouari Founas was arrested in September 2019, managed to escape during the search of his home, then was arrested again in February 2022, after a 17-month run.

He will be tried next year in Nancy, with ten other defendants.

Me Chiche had requested the release of his client because, according to him, the latter, by not being treated, was the subject of “inhuman and degrading treatment within the meaning of Article 3 of the European Convention on human rights “. The medical expertise should take place this summer, with a next hearing scheduled for September 14.
