Hansa Rostock won his third division away game against Bayern Munich II on Friday evening with 1-0 (1-0) and a lot of luck. With their 18th win of the season, the Mecklenburgers climbed to first place.

Anyone who wins such games is ripe for promotion – the much-cited saying leaves no doubt. Hansa again showed great defensive weaknesses in the Bavarian capital. The team headed by Jens Härtel had Markus Kolke to thank for the fact that the result was still zero. The goalkeeper was the best Rostocker in the stadium on Grünwalder Strasse. At the goal, the North Germans also benefited from a gross blunder in the Bayern defensive.
Because the promotion competitors from Dynamo Dresden have been quarantined, the Rostockers can no longer take their championship lead this weekend. Persecutor Ingolstadt would have to win his game against SV Meppen, who competed for the first time on Sunday without coach Torsten Frings, with eight goals difference.
Rostock in front hui, in the back ugh
When Hansa-Keeper Kolke gets loud on the pitch, that’s usually not a good sign. And at the beginning of the game Kolke didn’t like what his front men delivered in Munich. But the “small Bavarians” did not know how to use the available space, the goalkeeper was not even seriously examined.

Hansa was much more dangerous. First John Verhoek was disturbed at the last moment shortly before the goal (6th), then Nik Omladic failed with his diving header to FCB catcher Ron-Thorben Hoffmann (9th), Verhoek also put a header next to the goal (15th) . Hansa striker Pascal Breier got to the heart of the game so far. In the 30th minute he put the ball on Sarpreet Singh in his own penalty area – Kolke parried the direct shot strongly. Two minutes later, Breier was in action in the Munich penalty area: his shot, which was still deflected, rushed over the crossbar.
Verhoek scores his tenth goal of the season
But both teams had saved the best for the end of the first half. Bayern’s Armindo Sieb chased the ball from the penalty area onto the Hansa goal, but the 18-year-old also failed on Kolke (42nd). A little later, veteran Verhoek made it better on the opposite side. Hoffmann misjudged himself colossally on his excursion from the penalty area, and the Dutchman scored from the turn to lead the 1-0 break into the orphaned goal (45th).

Hansa plays (successfully) with fire
But the lead was almost gone again quickly. Kolke was powerless with Singh’s shot, but the ball hit the crossbar (49th). Less than a minute later, Lasse Günther also came free, but his shot landed right in the arms of the goalkeeper. Rostock played with fire, Kolke had to risk head and neck against Torben Rhein (54th). And then there could have been red for Lukas Scherff, if not had to. But just as the left-back got away with yellow after his ruthless tackle (61st), the team also survived the Munich urge phase.
Yellow-red for Scherff, Swede not punished
Hansa had recovered and skilfully kept the home side away from their own goal until the end – even if they were outnumbered. Scherff saw yellow-red after another foul in the 90th minute. Shortly afterwards, the ball jumped to Tobias Schwede’s arm in the penalty area. But referee Asmir Osmanagic’s whistle remained mute this time – and the Rostock team brought the all-important victory over time.
