“We were waiting for the opponent to lose around the center circle. The ball quickly went to Erik Jirka, who sent a bomb into the crossbar. The ball bounced towards me somewhere on the penalty spot and I was lucky to push it into the goal,” explained Kopic.
The West Bohemians under the new coach Miroslav Koubek stepped solidly in preparation. They didn’t win only against Hamburg. “We saved the best opponent for last. Copenhagen showed strength on the ball and quality in transition. We resisted very well. We created interesting chances. It was an even match for chances, which we managed to win in the end. The winning point is positive,” says assistant Marek Bakoš.
“The preparation went according to plan. We are a little sorry for the injuries of Milan Havel and Filip Čihák. The boys are fired up and looking forward to the start of the season. Friday was the last day of the camp and everyone is already looking forward to going home. The players did a quality job, but it showed us a lot of work that is still ahead of us,” added Bakoš.
