The number 1 pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, Víctor Wembanyama is already beginning to receive criticism from viewers, especially for his physical build that makes him look soft to other players.

Although this player is called to break all basketball stereotypes and become one of the best in history, he is not guaranteed to achieve it, especially if the level of play that takes place in the United States is taken into account.
In his two games in Las Vegas during the NBA Summer League, the French center registered 18 points, 41% shooting from the field, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks, which generated a good feeling of what is expected of this player. However, there are other fans who do not consider him strong enough to play against the other players in that league.

Former Celtics player Glen Davis was one of the first to express his criticism, considering him a ‘soft’ player. “That boy looked like a bambi… a little baby giraffe,” Davis told international media.
However, after his debut, Wembanyama clarified that in the United States the game is less physical than in France, so it might not be a problem for him to deal with bigger players.
Clearly Victor needs to beef up his physique a bit more and adjust to the American game, but this might not be as difficult for the Frenchman as many of his critics make it out to be.
